1975 -1982 Karine LeBaron studied and graduated with honors Art and Music School for Gifted Students. Studied composition with Martin Vartazarian. 1982 She got accepted to Arno Babajanyan YEREVAN STATE MUSICAL-PEDAGOGICAL COLLEGE in Armenia; at the same time taking private piano lessons with Russian (Saint Petersburg) renowned pianists Elena and Karo Zakarian. 1986 She graduated with a diploma as a Professional Piano Instructor, Piano Pedagogy, Soloist and Accompanist For Voice, Strings and Woodwinds. 1986-1987 Continued private studies with well-known Armenian pianists Tamara and Sedrak Yerkanyan. 1986-2008 Worked as a private piano teacher. 2008- 2011 Opened Piano School For Gifted Students, Long Island NY 2011- 2014 Classical FortePianoVelocitySchool , San Diego California 2014- The Art of Playing Piano, Murrieta CA
Karine LeBaron specializes in teaching students from a tender age 3. Karine uses both the Alphabetical music notation - C, D, E, F, G, A , B, and "Solfeggio" or Latin - Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La,Si. The traditional piano repertoire and technique with emphasis on tone production by relaxed weight, systematic technical development through scales, arpeggios and as well as the study of chord progressions in all keys . A strong foundation of music theory and sight reading are incorporated in the lessons. The ability to read music is developed by effectively integrating three skills: 1) discreet note recognition, 2) intervallic reading, and 3) a multi-key understanding and variations on a theme with analogies & visualizations that make sense 1) the ability to think critically and solve problems; 2) strong listening skills and the theoretical ear training ; 3) flexible technique; 4) solid reading skills. These are carefully sequenced and reinforced to ensure success. Karine teaches a free and balanced drop of the arm and hand into the finger which improves the technique. Everyone learns: Technique, Musicianship, Theory and Sight Reading. Students are highly encouraged to participate in various recitals and concerts. Performing on the stage will help the students to build self-confidence which is central issue of personal development. For young children - the lessons are focused on learning to enjoy music, finger placement, relaxation, posture, fingers articulation, fine wrist movements, chords execution, arm weight and shifting that weight among their fingers, letting gravity pull their fingers into the keys.
Are there any pianists out there who have never played studies by Czerny as part of their training? Probably not many. It is a fact that the technical and stylistic formulas necessary for playing the masterpieces of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and other classical composers can be developed by playing Czerny’s studies.
